Statistical methods for cancer screening
Current methods for cancer screening trials are limited. We develop methods for power and sample size in cancer screening trials, and decision models for evaluating cancer screening strategies. The work is presented in three chapters: I) Improving the Diagnostic Accuracy of a Stratified Screening Strategy by Identifying the Optimal Risk Cutoff. The American Cancer Society (ACS) suggests a stratified screening strategy for breast cancer. The ACS used expert opinion to choose the risk cutoff for additional screening.
