The binaural interaction component (BIC) is the residual auditory brainstem response (ABR) after subtracting summed monaurally-evoked from binaurally-evoked ABRs. The “DN1” peak is the first negative peak of BIC, and it may have diagnostic value: altered DN1 peak amplitudes and latencies in children and adults have been shown to correlate with and predict long-term behavioral binaural processing deficits.
