People standing in front of Spruce Hall. Women are attired in full-length dresses. Men are wearing suits. Nearly all are wearing hats. The building is framed on either side by trees and a path leads up to the people. Spruce Hall was built in 1881 by Hiram Pierce and is the oldest building on Colorado State University's Fort Collins campus. It was originally designed as a dormitory, with two floors each having nine rooms, and a basement which housed a kitchen, dining room and rooms for the cook and her family.
