The library’s archival collection of the Colorado Cannabis Collecting Initiative consists of items dated 1973 to 2021. The collection contains text-based materials, photographs, ephemera, and oral histories documenting the passage of legislation regarding recreational marijuana and its socio-economic impact. Topics concern production, regulation, media coverage, business, tourism, pro and con public and scholarly opinions, and medical and social justice issues. The digital collection features the proposed initiative in petition form for legalization of marijuana that led to the passage of Colorado Amendment 64 and ephemera from 2005 through 2012. Oral histories recorded in 2015 and 2016 with individuals involved in Amendment 64 and in other aspects of the legalized marijuana industry are also included.
