Arkansas Valley Sugar Beet and Irrigated Land Company Records
Formed in 1901, the Arkansas Valley Sugar Beet and Irrigated Land Company operated the Amity Canal System in southeastern Colorado. The company became a subsidiary of the Equitable Life Assurance Society in 1910, went through several lawsuits that mutualized the system, and dissolved in 1966. This digital collection, with materials dated 1896 to 1968, contains correspondence and other administrative documents concerning the Arkansas Valley Sugar Beet and Irrigated Land Company as well as land and water companies that proceeded AVSBILC. Several photo albums and nitrate negatives showing company investments and infrastructure are also present.
