Abstract
Family Photos is a collection of creative nonfiction memoir essays. Together, these essays build an overall story arc that examines what it means to be a family through time. The narrator opens a door into middle-American suburbia in the latter half of the twentieth century. In the early essays, the family dynamics unfold and show what is at stake. The middle essays expose the heartache of loss. Finally, a brave joy emerges in the essays as they follow the family forward into the next generation.
