Richard Scholl : his experiences in World War II, as told in his own words
On July 7, 2009 Richard "Dick" Scholl sat down at his home in Loveland, CO and told of his experiences in World War II. Dick, born and raised in Milwaukee, WI, served in company M, 3rd Battalion of the 158th Regimental Combat Team 'the Bushmasters'. Initially sent to Panama to guard the canal, after jungle training they shipped out to the Pacific. Starting in New Guinea, the 158th fought their way up the pipe to the Philippines. They were slated to spearhead the invasion of Japan, but the dropping of the atomic bomb ended the war. After the war, Dick returned to the bank he had worked at before ...
