Frank "Sam" MacDonald : his experiences in World War II, as told in his own words
On June 3, 2009 Frank "Sam" MacDonald sat down at his home outside of Berthoud, CO and told of his experiences in World War II. Sam, born and raised in a small truck farm community outside of Denver, served in Company I, 3 Battalion, 334th Regiment of the 84th Infantry 'the Railsplitters'. He gives a first-hand account of the extreme conditions and incredible hardships the infantry endured as they fought their way across Europe from when they landed in Normandy in November of 44' until they met up with the Russians at the Elbe River and the war's end.
