Metallopeptidases are proteolytic enzymes that are involved in many biological processes and can be found in many organisms. The MA Family M1 aminopeptidases share a conserved motif consisting of a zinc-binding site where the associated residues and a single zinc ion are engaged in hydrolyzing one to three amino acids from the amino terminus of a peptide chain.
