William Newell: his experiences in World War II, as told in his own words
On May 5, 2009 William "Bill" Newell sat down at his home in Greeley, CO and told of his experiences in World War II. Bill, born in McPherson, KS, served in the Army. He entered the war in Marseilles, France as a replacement with the 70th Infantry Division. He was on the front line as it moved north towards Germany. While out on a patrol, his group was caught in an ambush trap and he ended up getting shot in the arm. He was evacuated back to Marseilles for treatment.
