Richard Hooker: his experiences in World War II, as told in his own words
On June 16, 2010 Richard Hooker sat down at his home in Ft. Collins, CO and told of his experiences in World War II. Rich, born on a farm near Frederick, OK, served in the U.S. Navy in both the European and Pacific Theaters. He served aboard an LST (landing ship tank) as both an operator of a small landing craft (LCVP) and in the engine room. On the LST-690, he took part in the invasion of southern France with the dangerous task of putting soldiers on the beach in the landing craft.
