Larry "Corky" Colgrove: his experiences during the Berlin Airlift, as told in his own words
On March 30, 2009, Larry "Corky" Colgrove sat down at his home in Fort Lupton, Colorado and told about his experiences during the Berlin Airlift. Corky, born in Mott and raised in Regent, North Dakota, enlisted in the Air Force. The Berlin Airlift began after the Russians cut off all surface traffic to and from West Berlin, which was inside the Soviet sector of a divided up Germany. Starving the city and cutting it off from the west was their way of trying to take control of it. The Western Allies responded with an airlift of food and fuel into the city.
