In this exploratory study, we examined cannabis business practices at three levels: growers, value-added innovators and middlemen, and retailers. We sought to understand their businesses from both the operations and supply chain perspectives. During our case study visits, which took place primarily in Colorado and Oregon, we queried managers and owners about their companies’ competitive priorities, specifically in terms of quality, cost, delivery, flexibility,innovation, and sustainability.
