Founded in 1870 at Indiana Asbury (now DePauw University) in Greencastle, Indiana, Kappa Alpha Theta was the first Greek-letter sorority in the United States. During the 1917-18 school year, the Tau Epsilon Tau sorority at Colorado Agricultural College successfully petitioned to become Kappa Alpha Theta’s Beta Gamma chapter. In 2011, alumnae donated items when the local chapter house was sold with the understanding that certain items would be digitized (completed in 2011). When the Colorado State University chapter was reestablished in 2015, the physical materials were deaccessioned and returned to Kappa Alpha Theta, but digital copies were kept. This digital collection, with materials dated 1909 to the early 1990s, contains a Tau Epsilon Tau record book, the petition to join Kappa Alpha Theta, composites, photographs, newspaper clippings, and other chapter documents.
