The Mountain Scholar repository does not yet have a preservation policy for software, and we may not be able to support long-term preservation actions for these file types (e.g. file format migration). Would it be adequate for your purposes to provide a link to the current version of the software, or is it necessary for the reproducibility of your analysis to include the older release along with your data and scripts? Depositor response (10/11/19): It is indeed necessary to include this older model release for the sake of reproducibility. I should note that our full data set comprises several TB of model outputs and post-processed data, but I don't think that we are wanting to upload these to Mountain Scholar due to financial limitations. We might be able to upload these data to Google Drive -- would it be inappropriate to include a Google Drive link in the README file? I am still working to finalize the README document, and some of the scripts may need to be updated during the review process as we respond to reviewers. Curator response (10/11/19): For your larger files, an alternative to Google Drive that I would recommend is the Open Science Framework. This is a free web service run by the Center for Open Science, and they have unlimited storage available for researchers to share their data and other scholarly materials. They will also issue a DOI for your data that you can refer to in your README file. The only caveat is that individual files need to be 5 GB or smaller. If your individual files are larger than 5 GB, another possibility might be the PetaLibrary at CU Boulder. This storage is available to CSU researchers through the Rocky Mountain Advanced Computing Consortium (RMACC).
